Canon Pixma printer cartridges #8 – how to reset/defeat when empty?

This Canon PIXMA iP printer will not allow me to print my last page without installing a new black ink tank. The current one is “empty”. I’m sure there’s enough ink left to print my last page. How do I reset/defeat the cartridge as to trick the printer?
