Will a toner from laser printer stick to metallic paper?
I have a document that needs to be printed on metallic cardstock. Tried Inkjet printer but the ink smeared. So will toner stick and not smear. PLEEEEAAASEE HEEEEELP!
It’s hard to say if it will stick or not as toner is melted into the top fiber layers of paper which then keeps it in place. It depends entirely on how porous the metallic cardstock is and if it will let the toner melt into some of the surface to hold it in place. If it is too smooth or slick on the surface, then I think it may not work well. You can try it and see what happens, the only worry I have is how the cardstock will react with the fuser’s heat if the stock is not specifically labeled for compatibility with laser printers, but I think you’ll be OK to try. The charge that Trevbrat03 talks about is simply an electrostatic charge applied to the back side of the paper/cardstock to pull the image onto its surface, and therein lies a potential problem, not for damaging the printer, but that the thickness of the cardstock along with the metallic surface may not allow a good, clean image transfer, but it should work. If I remember right I think my daughter did something similar using metallic paper through a laser printer once for a project years ago and it worked just fine.
I’d say give it a shot and see how it works. I think the worse thing to happen would be that it won’t stick either.
