Pixma Mx860 Mac

Canon Printer/ Mac Snow Leopard Question?

I recently purchased a Canon Printer. I believe the name of it is Pixma MX860. I installed it on my Mac computer. At that point I had Leopard installed. Yesterday I updated my computer to Snow Leopard, the latest Mac update, now my printer won’t work. My understanding is is that Snow Leopard can’t read the Pixma MX860 (by the way, i tried reinstalling the printer software and it was a failure) because its too old. I’m wondering if there is newer Pixma software so that my printer and computer will be compatible again. If not I’ve wasted alot of money… :(

I’m in the same position, but found that this incompatibility only applies to accessing the MX860 over the network. Snow Leopard comes with native drivers for scanning and printing with the MX860 over USB. For now I’ve hooked up an extra USB cable, set up printer sharing on the computer that’s now directly attached to the printer, and problem solved! It will be nice when Canon releases a driver update so I can go back to the network printer setup I prefer.
